More than 123,000 votes came in from around the world; that was far fewer than the 200,000 cast in 2005 to name Bao Bao's brother Tai Shan. Bao Bao, born on Aug. 23, spent much of the ceremony lying on her side, either asleep or bored. Just before the announcement, an onstage screen showing video from a panda cam displayed Bao Bao's mother going in to cuddle with her.
